On our way back home from Bangalore airport, our 9-year-old started reminiscing about the trip to Uttarakhand and said, “I miss the yummy food and hot chocolate, the dogs (Zoey, Mochi, Jack, Gabbar and Kalu), and Dushyant Uncle and Avanti Aunty!” Honestly, we couldn’t agree more. Uff, what a trip it’s been! Our annual family winter vacation to the hills this year took us to Bir Terraces, Virkhan—a quaint little cottage tucked away in the most serene location. From the initial planning, to the journey there, and throughout our stay, one thing stood out consistently: the passion and attention to detail with which Dushyant and Avanti do everything. They truly went the extra mile to ensure we had the most wonderful experience. Each meal was thoughtfully planned, experiences were beautifully curated, and the hikes and trails were stunning—very doable even for the semi-fit. Kamalesh and Dilip were always around, making sure our stay was comfortable, accompanying us on hikes, and making chai and hot chocolate on demand. Avanti truly has the Midas touch—it’s been nearly impossible for us to pick a favourite meal. And Dushyant, the sweetest host, is a bundle of energy with such varied interests that conversations with him, there's never a dull moment. Also, if you do visit, make sure to try their Nativ Indie products—those deserve a review of their own. All in all, if I could give this place a 10 out of 5, I absolutely would. We’re definitely going back again, and soon.

We, a family of 5 adults spent 3 nights at Bir Terraces in November 2025. Perched on a quiet ridge, seamlessly merging with the surroundings and with indoor and outdoor spaces that offer sweeping and mesmerising views of the majestic Himalayas. To sit quietly and gazing at them is indeed both meditational and an experience truly etherial. Thoughtfully designed as a modern architecture, impeccably maintained, wooden interiors, cozy furnishing, and large windows create an atmosphere that feels both rustic and luxurious. The surroundings are serene, mornings begin with birdsong and evening end with spectacular sunsets and a sky full of stars. Dushyant is warm, attentive and has vast knowledge of the flora and founa. His deep involvement in making the stay both enjoyable and hugely informative was appreciable. Not to ever miss the guided tour of his farm and hikes through pine trees and the crisp mountain air only the Himalayas can provide. His team in the kitchen churns out some of the most delicious meals that carry local flavours and are served with utmost care and warmth. Avanti's culinary delights served are an 'icing on the cake'. Bir Terraces is not a BnB, it's a whole moving experience one would not want to miss out when touring Kumaon-Uttaranchal. Bir Terraces is a perfect escape for those seeking peace, beauty and a deep connect with nature. We will all cherish our time spent at Bir for a long long time to come and certainly plan another visit.

We recently stayed at Bir Terraces, and it truly deserves a 5/5 from the bottom of our hearts. The hosts, Dushyant and Avanti, made our experience unforgettable. Dushyant is one of the warmest and friendliest people you’ll ever meet. There’s an ease in the way he talks and connects with guests—within minutes you feel like you’ve known him for years. He took care of everything so effortlessly that we never had to worry about a single thing during our stay. His comforting nature and genuine kindness added a beautiful touch to our visit. Avanti, on the other hand, welcomed us with the kind of warmth that only comes from someone who truly loves hosting. And her food… it deserves its own separate review! The 8-hour slow-cooked dal makhani was out of this world—we wiped the bowl clean, took a refill, and even then wished there was more. Her pizza, Kumaoni thali, and everything else she prepared were some of the most delicious meals we’ve ever had. You can literally taste the love and effort she puts into every dish. We also want to express our gratitude to the entire staff. The house help took care of us with so much devotion, attention, and love, making sure every tiny need was looked after without us even asking. Their warmth made us feel truly at home. So grateful that we got to experience this place. Bir Terraces isn’t just a stay—it’s a feeling. Really hope we get to go back very, very soon. ♥️

While we were only staying at Bir Terraces for a few days, our experience was magical. Dushyant, Avanti and the team have a created a space where you can completely and totally relax and unwind whilst enjoying the breathtaking views. The food is spectacular and we particularly enjoyed the al fresco pizza. Dushyant and Avanti clearly have invested a lot of time, energy and most importantly care in the farm, upholding a vegetarian farm to plate ethos and this shows through in their fresh and seasonal ingredients. They were also extremely helpful before our stay in responding to our questions over email and setting up a driver for us. When we’re back in Uttarakhand we would definitely return and stay for longer.

This is one of those special places you'll want to keep coming back to. Beautiful interiors, a quiet location, thoughtful and attentive service, fresh, delicious food, and views you just won't get enough of. Dushyant and Avanti are lovely hosts who really want to share the beauty of the home and farm with you, and the dogs and cat are only too happy to give you company ❤️
